ExpenseKeeper Networking Instructions

ExpenseKeeper is fully networkable. We recommend a Network Administrator, who has been trained or certified by Microsoft, setup your network. The Wise Solutions Group will answer general questions related to networking, but we will not network your office over the phone. Computer networking falls outside the realms of support. However, we can arrange to network your office, including instructions over the phone. The fees for this usually range around $75 (one hour phone support). For qualified network engineers, the following are instructions for networking:

On the Server:

1) Install ExpenseKeeper to the C:\ Drive with full access. *** If you already have installed and are using ExpenseKeeper, go to step 3.

2) Click here to download ExpenseKeeper

3) Share the resource C:\EXPKPR with full access. To share a resource, go to 'My Computer' and then to your Local Disk (C:), then find the folder Chmanpro, and single click it, and then right click, and go to 'Sharing and Security', and under 'Network sharing and security', click on both check boxes, 'Share this folder', and 'Allow network users to change my files'.

On each WorkStation:

1) Apply the WSINSTALL program provided by WSG. Click on the download link below to receive this program. Click here to download WSINSTALL

2) Create a shortcut to the application on the server either through the network neighborhood or through drive mappings.

For example: \\server\expkpr\expkpr.exe or E:\expkpr.exe

Go to the properties for this shortcut and make sure the Start-In is the same location as the target.

For example: \\server\expkpr or E:\

Below are examples of properties of an actual network link on a workstation:

Target: \\manager\expkpr\EXPKPR.EXE

Start-In: \\manager\expkpr\

or

Target: E:\EXPKPR.EXE

Start-In: E:\

This last example, a drive mapping was created and associated to drive E: with the location (path or folder) set to \\manager\expkpr

Either example above will work.

Once you have a successful installation, we recommend you have the System Administrator for ExpenseKeeper create a User for each workstation or user. This is done from the Main Menu of ExpenseKeeper, then Users/Security.
